My Brothers all:
Two weeks have passed since my last article, and more than two months since we have been able to attend Lodge meeting. Today the 1st of June our Grand Master, after receiving information from the Governor that throughout the state the coronavirus curve is flattening, is pleased to announce that all Lodges may open to regular Lodge business. He added that ALL Lodges must adhere to their By-Laws, Section 5.01 – Stated Communications. He encourages all Lodges to follow health and safety guidelines as set forth by the Center for Disease Control and continues with, the safety of our Brothers and families are our top priority. Please practice “social distancing” and following the guidelines mentioned above. Use common sense and your best judgement. If you are sick, have a fever, or just don’t feel good, please stay home and do not come to Lodge.
The Executive Committee met this past Thursday the 28th of May, and a motion was made and seconded to hold off returning to labor until July in the interest of safety for our members. After discussion, the motion passed, and we will not have a meeting in June, but will wait until our July 24th meeting. We have a full night scheduled with a program to honor our US Flag, and a speaker who will bring you up to date with the impact of the Coronavirus on the financial markets, and an update on what the future holds (good news, I hope).
In that we are not meeting in June, which is usually the visit of our Deputy and that time of year when many of you make your donation to the Foundation. Please read the article in this eNews from Brother Jay Cebollero our Trustee for the Scottish Rite Foundation of Florida USA, Inc. Please take his words to heart and know that your support is greatly appreciated.
Looking forward, our August 28th meeting, Illustrious Edward M. Sexton, 33⁰ and his team will conduct the Ceremony of Remembrance and Renewal, typically scheduled for March. On September 25th, we celebrate the Feast of Tishri, and October 10th and 11th marks our Fall Reunion. As a reminder, now is the time to get with those Brothers you have been talking with about the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, to submit their petitions and join those from what would have been our Spring class in becoming a 32° Master of the Royal Secret.
As a reminder, please take a few minutes to read Ill. Harry Eisenberg’s article on the Masonic Education program that he has been delivering for the past 5+ years. We have graduated one class already, with another class to graduate in January of 2021. It is never too late to get started and participate, please read the article and see what is taking place in moving forward.
I have only heard of a few who have been infected with COVID-19. If you have experienced this, please know you are in our prayers for a return to good health, enjoying life to the fullest. To all Brothers and their families, please follow the guidelines provided by the Center for Disease Control, wash your hands multiple times each day, and continue social distancing at a minimum.
Until next time, remember the many things for which you are thankful! Be safe in your travels; “whisper wise counsel in the ear of an erring brother;” and respect the dignity of all, as it makes you and our fraternity stronger one action at a time. We want to ensure that what we are enjoying today will be reliable for those who will follow. Simply stated – “We lead the way today, so those who follow us can lead the way tomorrow!” Thanks for your continued support and participation, and may the “Spirit of Fraternity” reign supreme within our “Valley of Orlando!”
Fraternally,
Ill. Chester A. “Chet” King, 33°
